Public Service Commission, West Bengal (WBPSC) — for the Directorate of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal has invited online applications for 247 vacancies under Industrial Development Officer (IDO). Candidates with A degree of a recognized University OR a Diploma in Engineering or Technology of a recognized University/Institution. Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali is essential (not mandatory for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali; tested at interview — poor performance in the Bengali test can lead to cancellation of candidature). All degrees/diplomas must be from institutions duly recognized by the competent authority. Essential qualifications must be fulfilled by the closing date of online application can apply. The pay scale is Level 10 — Rs. 32,100 – Rs. 82,900 per month under WBS (ROPA) Rules, 2019, plus allowances as admissible. Post is temporary but likely to be permanent and the application fee is Rs. 160 plus service charges, online mode only. Exempt: SC/ST candidates of West Bengal and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD, 40% and above). OBC candidates must pay the usual fee. No exemption for SC/ST candidates of other states. 🏆Selection Process — Step by Step

1. Part-I Written Examination — 100 marks, 100 MCQs of 1 mark each, duration 1 hour 30 minutes, negative marking 0.25 mark per wrong answer. Subjects: English 15, Industrial Safety/Security Measures and Pollution Control Measures 10, Environmental Issue with emphasis on Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy 15, Physical Science 15, Elementary Computer Knowledge 10, Industrial Scenario and Industrial Potential in West Bengal 15, Mental Ability and Arithmetic 20
2. Part-II Interview — 15 marks. Final merit list on aggregate out of 115 marks. Category-wise qualifying marks in aggregate: UR 40%, EWS 40%, MSP 40%, OBC 38%, SC 35%, ST 30%, PwBD 30%. No qualifying marks in Interview. Tie-break: preference to the senior candidate by date of birth

Each stage is qualifying — you must clear one stage to reach the next. Final merit is prepared as per the rules in the official notification.
